 Fantastic score that stands on its own December 17, 2008

This score has a lot of good, strong tracks that complimented the movie perfectly. "You're My Brother," "Real Tears," "Simple Jack Trailer" and "Satan's Alley" are probably my favorites. The whole thing could have easily been paired with a more serious war movie, yet there are subtle touches here and there that it was written for a parody. One part of "Blow the Bridge" sounds like it could have come from Planet of the Apes, while "Simple Jack Trailer" and the vocal portions in "You're My Brother" and "Real Tears" remind you of the cliches that inspired those scenes in the movie.
This score stands on its own, but at the same time doesn't let you forget to laugh a little. Definitely take advantage of listening to Amazon's sample tracks before committing to the CD; scores aren't for everyone. If you're looking for the pop tunes, get the soundtrack. If you love movie scores, definitely give this one a shot.
