TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE

5 out of 5 stars I finally believe the pressure readings in my tires   November 11, 2008
I've taken up an interest in my tires since moving to Chicago... the dramatic seasonal changes (temperature, snowfall) have convinced me to keep an eye on my tire pressure and tread depth. For years I have used the cheap pen-style pressure gauge where the measuring stick pops out the bottom. I was never comfortable with the results, mostly because I couldn't repeat them. Even tire pumps with built in gauges seemed to be rather unreliable in terms of providing accurate tire pressure measurements.

I'm glad I made the investment in the 89560. This seemed like a lot of money for a tire pressure gauge, but the product lives up to the expectation. Here are some thoughts:

- The nozzle end that connects to the tire stem swivels freely in either direction, making it easier to maneuver the thick tube into an upright position.
- The bleeder valve is great. I over-inflate the tires a little and then bleed the excess air out. The gauge keeps the correct reading after pressing the bleeder so there is no need to reset anything or remove the nozzle.
- The 0-60 PSI rating is the perfect scale for my cars' tires. My Toyota Sienna is 35 PSI, my Honda Civic is 30 PSI, and my spare is 60 PSI. This scale allows me to see the reading in much finer detail versus the 0-100 PSI gauge.
- I was able to get consistent readings on every tire, even after disconnecting the nozzle over and over. The nozzle has a good seal on the stem and virtually no air escapes.
- Although the gauge head is large and easy to read, it feels a little fragile. I would highly recommend the purchase of the 89590 gauge cover. I set the gauge on the ground many times while measuring all of my tires and am certain that the face and sides would have been scratched up after just a couple of uses.
- I would also recommend the Slime COMP06 tire inflator to quickly top off the pressure in each tire from the comfort of your own garage.
- The picture that Amazon uses for the product is not entirely accurate. It is showing the 0-100 PSI gauge with a blue collar on the nozzle. The 0-60 PSI guage has smaller increments on the face of the dial, and the nozzle collar is black.
- Finally, I received the product packaged on a large blister card which did not include any specific operation instructions.

3 out of 5 stars doesn't create great seal   October 22, 2008

product quality appears to be great with one exception, it doesn't appear to create an easy seal with the tire valve, making accidental leakage unavoidable and frustrating when trying to dial in a very specific tire pressure

5 out of 5 stars Works great!   August 30, 2008
Great tire pressure gauge. You should also get the rubber cover because the plastic cover will fall off easily. Other than that, no cons about this product.

4 out of 5 stars Shipping problems--rolls around in big box   August 18, 2008

The guague is great, easy to use, seals well, and the manufacturer easy to contact and helpful. Ask, tho, that Amazon wrap the item well and put in bubble wrap/penuts, etc, 'cause two times they just sent it to me rolling around in a big box, which per the manufacturer, can damage it's accuracy.

5 out of 5 stars Well made. And I have faith that it is accurate.   August 7, 2008

The hose and metal components appear to be very strong and of high quality. As others have mentioned, the hose is black (not like the photo) which does not matter one bit to me. The dial is pretty big with large, easy to read numbers. I have used this gauge on at least 12 different tires and it works great. The nozzle fits the tire valves perfectly. No leaks while checking pressure. There is one thing about this gauge that made me consider giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The cover on the dial appears to be made of low-quality plastic, the type of plastic that scratches and cracks easily. I have a feeling that if I were to drop it on a concrete floor, the dial cover might crack or shatter. In spite of this, just from holding and using the gauge you get the feeling that it is well made.
When it comes to things like tire gauges, I don't mind spending a little more for quality. Why buy a cheap gauge that is probably not accurate? I have faith that this one is accurate. Is this gauge worth 40 dollars? Well, it is easy to read. It's easy to handle. The bleeder valve works well. And this gauge has given me the peace of mind that my tires are properly inflated. So for me, it is worth every penny.
