Great for a family with little ones! January 7, 2009 We gave this to each of our son-in-laws for their December birthdays. We were all taking a trip to Walt Disney World for Christmas. The carriers were wonderful! They kept everything dry and wow, it gave us so much room to pack everything else. We had one on each van, there were 12 of us traveling in 2 vans. The extra room was Great. Thanks.
Great Product January 7, 2009 I used this thing as waterproof storage for my pickup truck bed. It worked well even though i used it in a way it wasn't designed. i only had one large bag to place inside it so i folded over the excess and strapped it in the truck bed. It kept my bag dry threw a night of rain even though the bed pooled up with about an inch of water. some water did leak inside the bag (and eventually froze) in the excess that i had folded over but my luggage stayed dry. I shouldn't have left in soaking in a pool of water, but hey, it did the job.
It's made of a really durable material and has tough zippers. I'd recommend this product to other...especially if they are going to put it on their ROOF as it's meant to be used.
works great, zipper on two sides January 6, 2009 I will be using it infrequently so I didn't want to spend a lot, but I wanted to keep my clothes dry. I drove through three hours of heavy rain without problem. The load didn't shift during the 12 hour trip. My only complaint is the zipper, while advertised as opening three sides (to make packing from both sides of the car easier) really only opens two sides - the back and the passenger side. This makes it more difficult to load heavy items. Suggestions - protect the roof from scratches with an old blanket or even a rug pad, and tether the excess strap after you pack with rubber bands, duct tape, or safety pins
Rich C December 23, 2008 Had read other reviews and this one seem to have good reviews so i purchased it, Actually worked good, Put 300 miles on it and never moved or came lose, I did stop and check it every 100 miles or so. The material appears to be pretty durable and i believe it will last a while, Havent had it in wet weather yet but i think it would do fine. One has to weigh out the options when buying soft sided carrier verses a hard carrier, I didnt plan on using it much so for the money it was worth it, If i used a roof mounted carrier a lot then the hard type would be better because there easier to load. The only draw back i see with this soft sided bag is the zipper doesnt unzip half way around the bag, It stops a little short so you cant really flip the top over and gain full access, Its kinda hard to load this bag if you have a full size SUV like a expedition or a suburban etc because they sit so high, I guess you could use a step ladder ? Fuel mileage suffered about 2-3 mile mpg less with the bag on the roof running 70 MPH.
Did a fine job for the price! December 16, 2008 For the price, I don't think you'll be able to beat these bags.... I actually used them to haul luggage on a small utility trailer rather than on a car top.
My only gripe is that they're a bit rigid in cold weather and not really easy to zip/unzip then, but as long as it's warm they're super easy.
